European Hector Research Award in HIV 2023

The H.W. & J. Hector Foundation, Weinheim, is announcing a prize for European HIV research, which will be awarded for the best scientific achievements in the HIV research area in 2022/2023.

Dotation:

  • EUR 20,000 for the best clinical and/or epidemiological paper;
  • EUR 20,000 for the best basic science, translational paper.

Any paper on an HIV-related topic that has been accepted or published in a peer-reviewed journal within the last 24 months (i.e. from 18 October 2021) before the start of the 19th European AIDS Conference (#EACS2023) can be submitted.

If the paper has been co-authored by several authors, it should be made clear which author is applying for the award. The application should be accompanied by a written consent of all co-authors.

The submitted paper should be sent along with the application letter addressed to Dr Esteban Martinez, by 15 August, 2023 by email to the EACS Secretariat at info@eacsociety.org.


EACS Award 2023

The EACS Award is handed out every two years at the time of the EACS Conference in recognition of an individual’s longstanding, impactful and sustained professional contribution to the field of HIV.

Contributions worthy of this recognition are expected to reflect sustained excellence in the field of HIV. Such contributions may be scientific in nature, and/or relate to advancing the prevention and care of people at risk of or affected by HIV, or to promoting education, policy, community engagement or advocacy. Additional details can be found in the Terms of Reference.

This year the recipients of the EACS Award will be announced during the Opening Ceremony of the 19th European AIDS Conference on Wednesday 18 October 2023 in Warsaw.

Nomination requirements

Nominations of candidates for the EACS Award must be made by a current EACS member.

Required supporting documentation:

A brief (max 1 A4 page, font size 12) written summary of the nominee’s main contributions to the field of HIV and why she/he is deemed worthy of receiving the EACS Award, addressed to the Chair of the Award Committee;

Supporting documentation in terms of for example a curriculum vitae, biographical sketch, publication record or otherwise is highly recommended and appreciated.
